Friday July 10, 2009
Unagi Rice Bowl Photo (c) Setsuko Yoshizuka Unagi is consumed the most during the summer in Japan because it's said unagi gives us stamina. This is a basic Japanese unagi rice bowl which is topped with glaze-grilled unagi and kabayaki sauce. It's a Japanese custom to eat unagi on "doyo no ushinohi" (the day of the cow during a doyo period) in summer, and the day falls on July 19 and 31 in 2009.
