Eating Ohagi on Autumn Equinox

japanese ohagi September 23 is called Shubunnohi (the autumn equinox) in Japan and is a Japanese national holiday. It's also during higan period when people pray the souls of their ancestors. It's a custom to make ohagi (sweet rice balls) during higan. Hagi indicates an autumn flower, hagi (bush clover).
