Japanese Grilled Beef?

Have you been to Misawa, Japan? Someone wants to know about a local food found there. "When I served in the USAF in Misawa, Japan, I often ate at a local restaurant where beef was pan seared at the counter along with white onion slices. The meat was sliced very thin and was served over white rice with a sauce. Each patron had her/his own little gas fired grill..."
