Tazukuri is sugared dried sardine and is one of Japanese New Year's food.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 cups dried sardines
  • 2 tbsps sugar
  • 2 tbsps soysauce
  • 1 tsp mirin
  • 2 tsps white sesame seeds

PREPARATION:

Put the dried sardines in a frying pan and fry well. Put sugar, soysauce, and mirin in a pan and put on high heat. When the sugar mixture is thickened, add the dried sardines. Stop the heat and stir well. Sprinkle the sesame seeds. Cool it before serving.

Makes 4 servings
