Japanese Beef Tataki Salad

It's a Japanese-style beef steak salad.

Makes 4 servings

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 lb. beef round
  • 1/2 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 carrot, peeled and cut into thin strips
  • 3 inches daikon radish, peeled and cut into thin strips
  • 4 shiso leaves, cut into thin strips and soaked in water
  • 1 green onion, finely chopped
  • *For dressing:
  • 2 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 Tbsp rice wine vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp fresh lemon juice

Preparation:

Rub salt and pepper on beef round. Grill or pan-sear the beef on all sides until browned but still rare inside. Let the beef cool and slice thinly. Place beef slices on a plate and top with vegetables. Mix soy sauce, vinegar, and lemon juice to make dressing and pour over the salad.
