Soy milk is made from soybeans and is said to be good for our health. Unfortified soy milk is low-calorie and doesn't include cholesterol. Also, soy milk is a good source of protein and vitamins, such as vitamin B1, B2, B6, and E. Further, soy milk is rich in minerals, such as magnecium and carium.

One important component in soy milk is isoflavones, which is said to be effective in preventing cancer and osteoporosis.

Soy milk can be a great alternative to cow milk. If you don't have a soy allergy, try using soy milk in any recipe which cow milk is used.

Examples:

  • Soy milk over cereal
  • Soy milk to make waffles/pan cakes
  • Soy milk in coffee/tea

Soy milk (tonyu in Japanese) is becoming so popular in recent years and is used in various Japanese cooking. Tonyu-nabe is a kind of Japanese one pot dish ((nabe) in which ingredients are simmered in flavorful tonyu soup base.
