Chinese dishes are called "Chuka" in Japanese and are often cooked at Japanese homes. Popular Chuka dishes include gyoza, shumai, mabo-dofu, and so on. Japanese Chuka dishes are similar to authentic Chinese food, but they are arranged in the Japanese-style and have some differences.

Sweet and sour dishes are popular Chuka in Japan. The most popular one is sweet and sour pork called subuta. Su means vinegar and buta means pork in Japanese. Subuta goes well with steamed rice. Also, omelet with sweet and sour sauce is delicious. Serving sweet and sour omelet on top of steamed rice makes a good rice bowl. Sweet and sour sauce might be good for dipping spring rolls. It's fun to create your own sweet and sour dishes.
