Thin slices of meat strips are often rolled with various fillings. These rolls make great appetizers.
Ingredients:
- 3/4 lb thinly sliced pork loins
- 12-16 okra, washed
- 2 Tbsp sake
- 2 Tbsp mirin
- 2 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp vegetable oil
- flour for coating
Preparation:
Put water in a medium pan and bring to a boil. Add okra and boil for about one minute. Cool okra in cold water. Drain well, and cut off the tips and
stems. Place one okura horizontally on top of a pork slice. Roll up the meat. Repeat the process to make more pieces. Lightly coat roled pork with
flour. Mix sake, mirin, and soy sauce in a small bowl. Heat oil in a large skillet on medium heat. Fry pork rolls until the surface is brown. Pour the
seasoning mixture and cover the skillet with a lid. Steam on low heat for a couple minutes or until pork is cooked through. Remove the lid and let the
liquid evaporate on medium heat.
