Tempura Potatoes

Potatoes are popular ingredients for tempura. Sweet potatoes/yams are also good for tempura.

Ingredients:

  • 3-4 potatoes
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 cup ice water
  • *Vegetable oil for frying

Preparation:

Peel potatoes and slice into 1/4 inch thick. Soak potato slices in water for 15 minutes and drain well. Make tempura batter. Heat the oil to 340 F degree. Dip potato slices in the tempura batter. Deep fry them until crisp. Serve tempura potatoes with tempura dipping sauce.
